After spending more than 25 years in the insurance industry, I hung up my suit and tie and started investing in real estate in 2008. Yep, during the “great recession.” During this time, I was able to accumulate 24 single family home rental properties and enjoy the benefits of passive rental income.

I thought I could manage my own properties but that ended up coming with some very expensive lessons about bad tenants. I changed my education focus from investing to becoming a better Landlord. Once I had my management system down, I knew that I could help other Landlords be successful with their rental properties. So, I started professionally managing rental property for the general public in 2011.

I enjoy the company of my spouse of 35 years as we work in the office together with our 2 married sons and one daughter in-law. The success of the family business means that I am able to enjoy the benefits of volunteering for such roles as: Legislative Chair and Board member of the Triangle Real Estate Investors Association (i.e. TREIA), President Elect of the Triangle Chapter of the National Association of Residential Property Managers (i.e. NARPM) and President of the Triangle Chapter of NARPM. On most Thursday’s of the month you can find me and my oldest son driving in a truck together picking up donated items for a local food bank (i.e. With Love from Jesus in Raleigh, NC).

When I pulled animal urinated and saturated carpet out of a fixer-upper for the first time, I knew real estate was in my future. That was back in 2010 when I was working with my dad and my brother to fix up investment properties. Some of the property fixups were so dirty I thought we could have been a candidate to be on Mike Rowe’s “Dirty Jobs.” But the finished product always made the hard work rewarding.

I took a break from the dirty summer jobs to go to college in SC. While I was there, my dad called me to tell me he was starting a property management company. I was excited to hear that and decided to get my real estate license on a college summer break in 2012. I happily joined the team after I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration.

I got my start on the team doing some bookkeeping, on-boarding new customers, and helping with property sales. I went on to receive my Strategic Listing Specialist certification (SLS) and have been involved in sales and property management throughout the Triangle. I am now working on expanding our property management services to include short-term rentals (like Airbnb).

I volunteer weekly at an organization that helps provide clothing and furniture to people in need. I also serve in leadership roles at our local chapter of the National Association of Residential Property Managers (NARPM).

Office Manager

I grew up in a small town in southern Ohio and went to college in South Carolina, where I earned a degree in music education. I used my education training to home educate our sons. Once they graduated, I was ready for a new challenge and joined the property management business.

I coordinate the marketing of our rental properties. This includes overseeing photography, posting the listing on our website, the Multiple Listing Service (MLS) and syndication with popular real estate websites. I also oversee screening of applicants and preparing leases.

I love getting to work alongside my husband (happily married since 1983), my two sons & one of my wonderful daughters-in-law. I enjoy playing in the Silver Fantasy Flute Choir and have served on the Board of the Raleigh Area Flute Association. In our spare time my husband and I enjoy biking on the many bike trails in the Triangle area and glamping - glamorous camping 🙂

Maintenance Coordinator

My family has been in the Raleigh area for generations and I’ve enjoyed seeing the area grow and expand because more growth means more coffee shops for me to visit.

Seriously, I am a coffee fanatic. My favorite shops are Cup-a-Joe, La Farm, and Sir Walter Raleigh. One of my first jobs was working as a Barista at a shop in Cary. I then went on to work as a nanny for several years for a few great families, before joining the RentSafe team in 2016. I love my job here providing customer service and coordinating maintenance work and especially enjoy the opportunity to work with my husband Kyle.

When I’m not working, I enjoy traveling (favorite destination so far has been Germany), watching Friends or classic movies on VHS, listen to music through a record player, and playing guitar.

Rent-Ready Specialist

While in high school, I started working in the family real estate business. My brother and I, wearing gloves and masks, did fun things like tearing out old, smelly carpets in homes we were rehabbing. My roles changed to showing rental properties and preparing move-in and move-out reports. I became a licensed Realtor in 2014 and have enjoyed helping people buy and sell homes as well as being involved in property management.

Currently, I work with Landlords who need help handling rent-ready punch lists and cosmetic updates. I also manage our routine property inspection system, review move-out reports and handle security deposit adjudication.

I am presently serving as the Legislative Chair for the Triangle Chapter of the National Association of Residential Property Managers (NARPM). I’ve been married to my high school sweetheart since 2015. We enjoy kayaking and backpacking together.
